Double win for PPGCEM at ACerS Rising Stars Awards!
With great pride, PPGCEM announces that two of our PhD students have been awarded by ACerS Rising Stars, an initiative by the editors of the four journals of The American Ceramic Society (ACerS). This achievement, which was recently celebrated with student Murilo H. Moreira**, now extends to the Ricardo F. Lancelotti, supervised by Prof. Dr. Edgar D. Zanotto (DEMa/PPGCEM), who was also one of the 10 selected among the awardees.
The graduate students and postdoctoral researches who are members of the ACerS could apply to the Rising Stars competition by submitting their resumé/CV and a proposed manuscript title to be submitted to one of the four ACerS journals. In this stage, the work titled "Atomistic origin of structural relaxation in lead metasilicate and lithium disilicate glasses", which unveiled the atomic-scale structural changes during the structural relaxation of glasses, by Ricardo F. Lancelotti, Edgar D. Zanotto, and Sabyasachi Sen, was accepted by The Journal of The American Ceramic Society. This work was partially conducted during the internship abroad, BEPE-FAPESP, at the University of California at Davis.
Ricardo and Murilo, completed their undergraduate studies together in Materials Engineering at DEMa-UFSCar in 2018 and will receive recognition certificates and have been invited to present their work at the "ACerS Journals Awards Symposium" to be held during MS&T24 in October in Pittsburgh, United States.
This achievement, coupled with numerous previous ones, consolidates the international reputation of the ceramics and glass groups of DEMa, and demonstrates the excellence of PPGCEM in producing qualified professionals in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, allowing them to carry out high-impact research and be recognized internationally.
