PhD students from PPGCEM win awards at the ALAFAR 2024

PhD students Murilo Henrique Moreira and Otávio Henrique Borges, both supervised by Prof. Dr. Victor Carlos Pandolfelli in the PPGCEM program, were awarded by the ALAFAR 2024 organizing committee. The event took place in Lima, Peru, where Otávio and Murilo received the awards for the third and second best presentations, respectively, at ALAFAR 2024.

    PhD students from the PPGCEM, Murilo H. Moreira and Otávio Borges, were awarded for their presentations at the 43rd Latin-American Congress - ALAFAR 2024, held in Lima, Peru, from December 9 to 12.

     The work titled “Novel Eco-Friendly MgO-Based Aggregates: The Road From Concept to Pilot-Scale”, authored by O. H. Borges, F. G. Coury, J. A. P. Sardelli, C. Pagliosa Neto, and V. C. Pandolfelli, received the award for the third-best presentation. Meanwhile, “Towards Polymeric Fibers’ Optimization as Refractory Castable Drying Agents - Insights From Direct Visualization”, by M. H. Moreira, S. Dal Pont, A. Tengattini, and V. C. Pandolfelli, earned second place among the top presentations at ALAFAR 2024.

    This international congress, held every two years in a different country, focused on the theme “Sustainability, Innovation, and Resilience: Challenges of the Refractory Industry.” UFSCar was also represented by Professor Pandolfelli, who delivered the keynote speech titled “The New Stone Age.”
