PhD students at PPGCEM won International Award

PhD students Murilo Henrique Moreira and Otávio Henrique Borges both supervised by Prof. Dr. Victor Carlos Pandolfelli at PPGCEM were awarded second and third place for their works presented at the "2022 ECerS - FIRE Summer School" held in the city of Aachen – Germany and Ijmuiden - Netherlands.

Murilo Henrique Moreira and Otávio Henrique Borges, PPGCEM students, were awarded for their work presented at the event "2022 ECerS - FIRE Summer School", held in Aachen - Germany and Ijmuiden in the Netherlands between June 27-30, 2022. The second prize was awarded to authors, M.H. Moreira, S. dal Pont, A. Tengattini and V.C. Pandolfelli for the work, “Looking for solutions for refractory castables’ drying: What about seeing it?”. Third place was awarded to O. H. Borges, V. R. Salvini, T. Santos Jr and V.C.Pandolfelli with the title “Development of greener and more effective high-temperature thermal insulators”. Students, industrialists and presenters from 22 different countries attended the school, with 120 face-to-face, due to the limited number of participants, and dozens of others online. One of the course classes, “Challenges for data mining and machine learning in the refractory industry and end-users” was taught by M. Santos and V.C. Pandolfelli. The event's expenses were covered by ECerS (European Ceramic Society), industry registrations and by FIRE, an entity comprised of 13 global industries and 10 universities, where UFSCar-DEMa is the only one in the southern hemisphere to take part in it. FIRE is an entity fully dedicated to the training of students who can act in a global scenario and all its resources are destined for education in the area of ceramic materials used at high temperatures.
