Prof. Francisco Gil Coury from the Department of Materials Engineering (DEMa) and the Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (PPGCEM) at UFSCar is the first author of a scientific article published in the renowned journal Nature!
In the article entitled “On the origin of diffuse intensities in fcc electron diffraction patterns”, Prof. Francisco and his collaborators explore the diffraction patterns of face-centered cubic materials and demonstrate how to interpret these patterns in order to understand the structural characteristics of these materials. This paper brings a huge contribution to the advancement of science in the development of new materials, providing a theoretical foundation for experimental observations that have long intrigued scientists. Most of the diffraction experiments were carried out by Prof. Francisco at the Structural Characterization Laboratory (LCE) at DEMa/UFSCar.           PPPGCEM congratulates Prof. Francisco and co-authors Cody Miller (Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA), Robert Field and Michael Kaufman (Colorado School of Mines, USA) for publishing and contributing to the advancement of science.
