PPGCEM PhD student awarded at MRS Fall 2025 in Boston
During the 2025 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit, held in Boston (USA) in early December, the work of PhD student Danilo Janes received international recognition. The poster was selected and nominated among the best works presented in its session.
The study, titled "Unveiling the Electrostatic Potential at ZnO Varistor Grain Boundaries Using Differential Phase Contrast STEM (DPC-STEM)," is part of his PhD thesis at PPGCEM. The research focuses on the multiscale characterization of semiconducting ceramics, using advanced techniques to investigate the physics and chemistry of interfaces in ZnO varistors.
The work is advised by Prof. Dr. Edson Leite with the collaboration of researchers and specialists from the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano). The nomination at the Materials Research Society meeting, one of the most prominent materials science conferences in the world, highlights the quality of research developed at PPGCEM and the group's contribution to understanding nanomaterials and their electrical properties.
