Works from PPGCEM DEMa-UFSCar receive International Award

Master’s student Bruno Reitmann Pagliarini and postdoctoral researcher Otávio Henrique Borges (both affiliated with the Microstructure Engineering of Materials Group, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Victor Carlos Pandolfelli at PPGCEM-UFSCar) had their work recognized with first- and second-place awards during the 9th International Postgraduates Seminar on Refractories. The conference is organized by Wuhan University of Technology (China), Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria) and Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), in collaboration with world-renowned professors in the field of ceramic refractory materials.

Master’s student Bruno Reitmann Pagliarini and postdoctoral researcher Otávio Henrique Borges were honored for their presentations at the 9th International Postgraduates Seminar on Refractories, held on October 16–17, 2025. Bruno’s presentation – titled “Tailoring titania content to design Al2O3-MgO-TiO2 flexible castables” – received 2nd place, whereas Otávio’s one – “Novel refractory raw materials: eco-friendlier alternatives to magnesia–chromium aggregates” – was awarded 1st place. Both works are being developed within the Microstructure Engineering of Materials Group (GEMM), coordinated by Prof. Dr. Victor Carlos Pandolfelli. The conference brought together students and professors in the field of refractory materials and featured around 30 oral presentations across different areas such as computational simulations, laboratory experiments, and the development of novel refractory materials.
