Research from the Group of Microstructure Engineering of Materials (GEMM) is featured on the cover of the latest edition of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society
The paper titled “Neutron tomography analysis of permeability-enhancing additives in refractory castables” by the authors M. H. Moreira, S. Dal Pont, A. Tengattini, and V. C. Pandolfelli was selected as the cover article for the November issue of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society.
The article presents results from neutron tomography tests conducted during the Ph.D. student’s internship at the Institut Laue-Langevin in collaboration with the Université Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France, and provides in-situ visualization of permeability enhancement induced by polymer fibers in refractory castables.
The work was also recently selected as one of the ten winners of the international “ACerS Rising Stars” award. The PPGCEM was further represented in this award by the paper “Atomistic origin of structural relaxation in lead metasilicate and lithium disilicate glasses” by Ph.D. student Ricardo F. Lancelotti, supervised by Prof. Dr. Edgar Dutra Zanotto and co-authored by Sabyasachi Sem, which was also published in the November issue of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society.
Both students have been invited to present their work at the MS&T 2024 conference, which will be held in Pittsburgh, USA, from October 6 to 9, 2024.
